French Medal of Honor of Mutuality

Created in 1852 as the 'Médaille des Sociétés de Secours Mutuels' (Medal of the Societies of Mutual Assistance). In 1898 it was authorized for public wear as the 'Médaille d' Honneur de la Mutualité' (Medal of Honor of Mutuality). It was intended to recognize exceptional service by the officials and members of societies for mutual assistance. The edge is marked as 'Bronze' and bears the bronze assay mark. Very good condition.
