19th Century Brass Handled European Short Sword

The sword has an overall length of approximately 28 1/2 inches long, with a blade length of approximately 23 inches. The blade is generally bright with typical gray spots and several very small nicks to the cutting edge. The brass grip and guard show uncleaned patina and small indentations from use and carrying wear. There is a number impressed into the guard that appears to be '11740'.
