WWII Japanese Army Officer's Shin Gunto Sword Signed Kojima Katsumasa in Perfect Condition

The Japanese Army officer's sword has an overall length in the scabbard of approximately 40-1/2 inches, with a blade length of approximately 26-1/4 inches. The blade is bright with a distinct temper line and shows no wear or damage. The tang shows light rust on the surfaces and is signed Kojima Katsumasa.The ray skin grip is wrapped in the traditional style with brown fabric and shows little evidence of use. Beneath the wrapping are the traditional military menuki of three cherry blossoms on each side. The tsuba guard is the solid style, with relief cherry blossoms and retains most of its original gilt finish. Fittings are brown with gilt highlights. The scabbard retains virtually all of its olive brown paint. Attached to the handle is a sword knot also showing no use. Overall in excellent near mint condition.
