Unusual WWII Japanese Army Company Grade Officer Sword by August Schneider of Berlin

The sword has an overall length in the scabbard of approximately 36 inches, with a blade length of approximately 30-1/2 inches. The blade is in near mint condition, showing only minor spots and scratches. The ricasso is maker marked by the Berlin firm of August Schneider. The red felt washer is in place at the top of the blade. The black celluloid grip is tightly triple wrapped in brass wire and the grip is without chips or cracks. The pommel and guard have a dark and uncleaned patina. The scabbard shows speckling to the nickel plating and a few minor indentations. Overall the sword is in excellent condition.
