Uncommon WWII Japanese Navy Shipboard Personnel Grey Combat Helmet

Available
$2650.00

Description

The helmet has the painted gray exterior and interior that is the distinctive mark of the Imperial Navy combat helmets that were worn by personnel assigned to serve on the ships of the Navy. The exterior paint is approximately 85 percent intact, with typical scrapes and scuffs and scattered spots of surface rust. The front of the helmet displays the metal anchor and cherry blossom insignia of the Imperial Navy. The leather liner is present, showing wear. The tips of the six leather tongues are torn and the drawstring is missing. Two of the leather pads retain the filling in the 'pillows' behind the pads. The leather liner band has separated into sections that are presently retained in place by removable paper clips, but the liner is complete. The fabric chin strap is present, showing spots and use, but it is intact.
