19th Century Zulu Warrior Shield

The large shield of a warrior of the Zulu tribe of South Africa. The shield is constructed of Nguni Cow hide and measures approximately 33 inches long by 21 inches wide. There is a hand grip on the back of the shield for carrying and holding. The shield would have had a post of stick running the length of the shield through laces on the back to stiffen the shield, and this post is missing. Very good condition.
