Available
$450.00

Description

The Silver Star is World War II period production on a slot brooch. It is contained within its titled black leather case with ribbon bar and enamel lapel badge. The Silver star is numbered '54572' and it is officially machine engraved 'Edward L. Wilson'. A typed slip of paper within the case states that the decoration was awarded to Wilson by the Far East Air force under General Order Number 509 in 1951. An obituary was found for Wilson in the November, 1959, issue of 'Air Force' magazine, indicating that Wilson was a highly decorated officer who served in combat in both World War II and the Korean War, with the Silver Star as one of several decorations. A scan of this obituary is shown in this listing (a hard copy is not included with the Silver Star).
