1893 5th Cavalry Carbine Competition Prize Medal

A silver, second class, U.S. Army prize medal for the U.S. Cavalry marksmanship competitions. This example is designated on the obverse 'Second Class Prize Cavalry Competition' and is finely engraved on the reverse:'Bi-Department/Won By/Corp'l John Mahlenhoff/Troop C 5th Cav'y/August 1893'.The medal has a dark patina indicating that it has not been cleaned or polished in quite some time. The medal is in overall fine condition.
