American Revolutionary War Horseman's Saber

A classic example of an American dragoon saber of the Revolutionary War. The sword has an overall length of approximately 39 inches, with a blade length of 33 inches. The turned wood grip is protected by a brass stirrup style knuckle bow that begins from a brass pommel cap that runs down to the sword and becomes a pierced guard. The iron blade is a triple-fuller style with a lightly rusted surface. At the top of the grip there is a small segment of approximately 1/2 inch missing where the top of the knuckle bow wraps around the grip. There has been the expected loosening of the components with the passage of more than 200 years, but the saber remains complete and intact.
