Description
Original era production. Possibly of the WWII era, or perhaps later, a large, black lacquered wooden frame memorial. It measures 12x13 inches, with a 7x7.5 inch metal plate at center showing the gate to the Yasukuni shrine in Tokyo. Above the plate is a 23 mm, enameled and gilded brass emblem, with two banners decorated with an Army star and Navy anchor. On the lower right corner of the reverse are Japanese characters, with a central panel which has been nailed shut (one side is loose), perhaps an area for the placement of prayers or a loved ones photo. At the top is a braided purple cord for suspension.
