WWII Japanese Navy 1st Pattern Padded Helmet Cover

The cover shows signs of use and wear, including a number of spots and a separation on the lower edge about 2 3/4 inches long (exactly the sort of development that led to the introduction of the 2nd pattern cover, which had a reinforced edge). The front of the cover displays a multi piece anchor insignia of the Imperial Japanese Navy. The drawstring remains present in the cover. The interior has a number of spots and stains from use. The large issue stamp remains visible.
