WWII Japanese Type 99 Light Machine Gun Maintenance Kit

The kit is nearly complete, within its original carrying case. There is an empty leather loop within the case but it appears that this held a wrench which is in fact present in the case. It appears that the soldier who was the original owner of the kit slipped the wrench in with the small hammer that is present. When the wrench is placed back into its intended slot, the kit becomes much harder to close. So it seems that the soldier who carried the kit placed the wrench in with the hammer to make the kit easier to close and carry. The leather of the case remains supple and the closure strap is intact.
