1945 Type 95 Japanese Army NCO Nagoya Arsenal Sword

Available
$575.00

Description

A Type 95 Japanese Army NCO sword with the wooden grip that was produced in 1945. The sword blade and scabbard have matching serial numbers and the position of the number on the blade, configured to be read with the cutting edge up, identifies the sword as having been produced by the Nagoya Arsenal (The only other source for the Type 95 sword was the Tokyo arsenal, which impresses the number on the blade in such a way that it is read with the cutting edge facing down). The machine-made blade is 26 inches long and shows a number of small nicks in the cutting edge. The overall length is approximately 38 inches in the scabbard. The scabbard exhibits about 70% original paint and a few shallow dents at the lower end. The tsuba is the plain iron style utilized on the 1945 production NCO swords. The iron fittings exhibit about 90% original black paint. Checkered wood grips are in very good condition showing only minor wear.
