The badge is approximately 1-7/8 inches by 2 inches. The badge is engraved 'U.S. Training Station Medal / 2nd Prize / Excellence in Signals / G.E. Barnhart / 1902'. The center has a white enamel rectangle as a part of an engraved signal flag. The reverse is maker marked and marked 'Sterling' as well. The 'C' catch is missing from the reverse of the badge. The badge exhibits a fine and uncleaned patina.
