British South Africa's Medal (Rhodesia 1896 Reverse) named to:3936 LCE CORPL.C.W.BARNES.7TH HUSS.Medal good very fine or better, toned with one small edge bruise and slight twist on suspension.Christmas Watson Barnes was born on 25th December 1874 at Norwich,the son of Waler and Martha Maria Barnes of Norwich.Sometime between 13th January 1892 and 15th February 1893 Christmas joined the 7th Hussars (ref 7th Hussars numbering info)Christmas Watson Barnes died on 14th November, 1896 aged 21 whilst serving with 'D' Squadron of the 7th Hussars during the Matabeleland Rebellion at Enkeldoorn (Mashonaland) of enteric fever.He is buried in the Bulawayo General Cemetery, Zimbabwe.Memorial I.D 92408251.Comes with copied census,medal roll,an account of the 7th Hussars in India, Matabeleland and Mashonaland, in a well presented folder.A scarce casualty medal for Matabeleland
