Description

The sword has an overall length in the scabbard of approximately 34 inches, with a blade length of approximately 28 inches. The blade is etched on both sides of the blade for about three-quarters of its length, with both 'U.S.' and American eagle designs. One side of the ricasso is marked by the M.C. Lilley Company, while the opposite side shows a knight's helmet logo as used by the Solingen, Germany firm of Weyersberg Kirschbaum & Company. A leather washer is in place at the top of the ricasso. The grip is covered in leather, which is wrapped in brass wire. The leather covering of the grip has a few relatively minor scuffs. The pommel, knuckle bow and guard all show a fine uncleaned patina over the gilt finish. The scabbard has speckling and spots of wear to the nickel plated surfaces. Overall very good to excellent condition.
