Grand Army of the Republic Civil War Veteran's Sword

The sword has an overall length in the scabbard of approximately 33-1/2 inches, with a blade length of approximately 26 inches. The plain blade is generally bright, showing a few scattered dark spots. The grip is covered in leather that is wrapped in twisted brass wire, with the leather having some small scuffs on the rear side. The static guard bears the 'GAR' designation in raised relief. The pommel, guard, and knuckle bow all show an uncleaned patina. The leather scabbard exhibits age and scuffs, with a thin spot immediately above the lower scabbard fitting, but the scabbard is complete and intact. The brass scabbard fittings show uncleaned patina, with the lower fitting have a few small indentations. Overall very good condition.
