US Army Model 1860 Staff and Field Officer Sword by Horstmann

The sword has an overall length in the scabbard of approximately 35 inches, with a blade length of approximately 28 inches. The blade is generally bright, showing some surface grime and dark areas in the area of the ricasso. The ricasso itself bears the 'Horstmann' name. The leather covered grip is without chips or damage and it remains tightly wrapped with twisted brass wire. The decorated guard, knuckle bow and pommel all exhibit a fined toned patina over the largely intact gilt finish. The same is true of the fittings on the scabbard, which shows intact plating. Overall the sword is in excellent lightly used condition.
