Description

'Wounded Badge in Silver.' With the outbreak of World War II on September 1, 1939, Hitler reinstated the 'Wounded Badge.' A modified version of the First World War model, the old helmet type was replaced by the new Model 1935. The medal was awarded to all military personnel and later (from March 1943) also to civilians wounded as a result of enemy action. The 'Zink' type medal is beautifully maker's marked with the number '30,' indicating production by the 'Hauptmünzamt' in Wien (Vienna). The pin and hook are still intact and functional. The medal retains much of its original silver finish. A beautiful original example in good condition!
