US Indian Wars, M1889 Regulation Army Enlisted Forage Cap, Horstmann Contract 1891

Original era manufacture. An issue quality M1889 enlisted forage cap, clearly marked Horstmann Bros. & Co. contract, June 3 1891, on the sweatband. A US regulation pattern with the bound leather visor, blue wool body, painted leather chinstrap secured with two brass enlisted general service buttons, brown leather sweatband, black silk inner lining and a black painted oilcloth disc in the crown. The hat needs a little restoration as the visor is coming a bit loose from the body and the silk lining needs to be tacked back into position. There is some scattered mothing to the wool body, but nothing seriously detracting, and being of a dark blue color wool, the holes just don't stand out.
