Two Early U.S. Air Force Sergeant's Uniforms

Available
$100.00

Description

Originally, members of the Air Force were allowed to wear the olive green uniform of the Army Air Force until June 30, 1952. The first Air Force-specific service uniform was created in 1949, with the Air Force adopting the 'Ike' style jacket in a shade designated 'Winter Blue Shade 84'. The group is comprised of a privately tailored 'Ike' jacket, a four pocket tunic with quartermaster tag dated 1951, and a pair of the blue uniform trousers, all in blue wool. Both uniform jackets have Air Force Sergeant chevrons. The Ike jacket has separately applied 'US' collar insignia in silver bullion. The Ike jacket shows actual wear, with some tracking, spots, and scattered small holes. The four pocket tunic is very clean and without holes or tracking. The trousers show multiple holes that are noticeable.
