Japanese WWII Police Sword and Knot

Original era manufacture. Polished steel blade measuring 22 inches in length, brass guard, backstrap and pommel with what looks to be a more modern era leather knot. Fishskin grip bound with brass white. Proper length, single suspension ring steel scabbard, with a steel patina finish and dent free. The blade is overall clean, save for a very severe rust blemish on the spine, which extends into the side of the blade as shown. It's the only spot of damage on the blade, but wow, it's a big one. Still, good for parts or leave as is.
