Description

Original era manufacture. A very well worn British pattern sun helmet, of a pale olive green cotton, covering a rigid crown and visor. Stained and partially shrunken, leather sweatband. The removable chinstrap is missing. Mounted to the front of the helmet is a brass anchor and chrysanthemum, it's been on the helmet for a long time. In the early days of WWII, the Japanese captured large quantities of Allied war material in the Philippines, Hong Kong and Singapore. With a great deal of it put to their own use.
