Belgian WWI, Identified, 13 Piece Medal & Photograph Lot

Description

Original era manufacture. This walked into a local antique store last week while I was visiting there. It was brought in by the son of the man in the picture, left to him as part of an inheritance. With no one of his own to leave it too, the elderly gentleman decided to sell it so a collector today could enjoy it. The medals are mounted on a black velvet pillow of a type often used to honor an individuals military accomplishments at a funeral. According to the man's son, his father served in WWI, and then in the Belgian army afterwards, and then with the government during the WWII German occupation. The medals are in sound condition, all with original ribbons, one is missing a small lion from it's center, and another a pair of crossed swords once attached to the suspension ribbon. The large framed photograph shows the man in later life wearing several of the medals displayed on the pillow. His name is written on the reverse of the frame, with the dates 1892-1975. A very attractive set with excellent research potential.
