WWII K98 Combat Bayonet by Gebruder Heller with Frog

Available
$200.00

Description

The blued finish of the blade is largely intact, showing signs of age, with scattered spots and some wear. The ricasso is serial numbered and, on the opposite side, it bears the manufacturer code of 's. 178 G', indicating production by the firm of Gebruder Heller of Marienthal. The wood grip plates exhibit age and stains but they are without chips or cracks. The finish on the guard is worn, while the finish on the pommel is generally complete, showing some wear and age. The pommel has faint waffen amt marks. The scabbard throat is unnumbered, while the opposite side bears a manufacturer name and date that cannot be discerned given the presence of the leather frog against the rear of the scabbard. The scabbard shows wear to the finish as well as some surface rust and a few minor indentations. The black leather frog is stiff. The pebbled leather grip cross strap on the frog is torn at the hole to receive the strap stud. The reverse side of the frog has stamped numbers.
