Description
The scroll is approximately 16-3/4 inches wide by 70 inches long. According to a New York Times article of 1934:The annual Nippon Business Mission to the United States, under the auspices of the Japan Trade Promotion Association, arrived here yesterday after crossing the country from the West, and went to the Hotel New Yorker. The mission consists of nine Japanese business men, a Japanese student, and Lieut. Gen. Saburo Morozumi, retired, chairman of the mission, who is accompanied by his wife. With the exception of Chugo Watanabe, manager of the mission, its members speak very little English. General Morozumi, who is 68 years old and the veteran of three wars, said he was not at all impressed by the height of American buildings, but greatly impressed by the friendliness shown him by the people.
