Signed WWII Japanese Imperial Navy Officer Type 97 Kai Gunto Sword

The sword has an overall length in the scabbard of approximately 39 inches, with a blade length of approximately 25 inches. The blade is generally bright, with scattered spots and scratches. The blade displays a visible and distinct temper line. The tang has a single mounting hole, and the tang is signed 'Kanetoshi'. The grip is covered in black sharkskin and it is wrapped in the traditional fashion with dark brown fabric. Beneath the fabric on each side of the grip are the standard military menuki of three gilt cherry blossoms. The tsuba guard is the solid style with separate plates radiating lines from the center. The scabbard has scattered scratches, but it is intact and securely retains all fittings. Overall the sword is in very good condition.
