Description
The sword has an overall length in the scabbard of approximately 41 inches, with a blade length of approximately 26 inches. The blade is generally very clean, showing some spots, scratches, and a few tiny nicks on the cutting edge, while displaying a very subtle but visible temper line. The tang has a single mounting hole, and the tang is signed 'Noringa' and it is dated in August of 1943. The grip is covered in sharkskin and it is wrapped in the traditional fashion with dark brown fabric. Beneath the fabric on each side of the grip are the standard military menuki of three cherry blossoms, with both retaining most all of their gilt finish. The tsuba guard is the solid variety with four relief cherry blossoms. The steel scabbard shows typical scuffs and scratches from use in the field, but the brown scabbard paint is generally intact. The scabbard has a few shallow indentations which do not effect the ability to draw or sheath the sword. Overall very good condition.
