WWII Japanese Wakizashi In Leather Covered Scabbard For Use By Tank or Pilot Officer's

The short sword has an overall length in the scabbard of approximately 23 inches, with a blade length of approximately 15 inches. The blade is generally clean, showing some spots, small areas of scratches, and subtle inclusions. The tang exhibits some rust and it has two mounting holes. The grip is wrapped in the traditional style with brown fabric which shows some wear and soiling from handling. Beneath the wrapping on each side are figural menuki. The lacquered wood scabbard is enclosed within a textured leather scabbard cover with snap fastiner connecting the scabbard to handle. Overall very good condition.
