WWII Period Model 1883 Japanese Naval Officer Sword

The sword has an overall length in the scabbard of approximately 33 inches, with a blade length of approximately 25-1/2 inches. The plated blade is generally bright, with a clear artificial temper line, while showing surface dirt and some spots of plating loss. The guard has two cherry blossoms and the reverse has a folding latch. The gilt brass pommel and guard exhibit a fine and uncleaned patina. The ray skin grip is without chips or cracks, and it is triple wrapped in brass wire. The scabbard shows some age and wear, with a crack to the obverse side, but the scabbard is intact. The top of the scabbard throat bears the number '25'. Overall very good condition.
