Japanese Meiji Era Type 19 Sonin Level Diplomatic and Civil Official's Dress Sword

The sword has an overall length in the scabbard of approximately 31 inches, with a blade length of approximately 23 inches. The decorated etched blade is quite bright. The pierced guard, hilt, and scabbard fittings all show a fine toning of the fire gilt finish. The gold wire wrapping of the grip remains very tight. The leather scabbard shows a fine polish and it is without cracks or damage. Overall a scarce Japanese sword that is in exceptional condition, making a very impressive appearance.
