Published Japanese Type 19 Meiji Era Sonin Level Diplomatic and Civil Officer Dress Sword with Family Crest

The sword has an overall length in the scabbard of approximately 31 inches, with a blade length of approximately 23 inches. The decorated etched blade is quite bright. The guard, hit, and scabbard fittings all show a fine toning of the fire gilt finish. On the reverse guard is a small silver family crest of the owner of the sword. The gold wire wrapping of the grip has loosened a bit with age but it is intact. The leather scabbard shows a fine polish and it is without cracks or damage. Overall a scarce Japanese sword that is in exceptional condition, making a very impressive appearance.
