Japanese Army Type 2 GOU Magnetic Aircraft Compass

Approximately 5 inches in diameter and 4-1/4 inches tall. This style of compass was utilized in the Type 99 Kawanishi Ki-48 'Lily' Light Bomber and in the Type 97 Mitsubishi Ki-21 'Sally' Bomber. The compass directional dial turns easily as the compass is moved. The compass is on a round base with spring mounts. An identification plaque bearing kanji is mounted on the side. The plate bears serial number '96805'. The plate bears a 'Showa' date designation, although no date stamp was entered on the plate. Overall the compass is in excellent condition.
