Named Vietnam War Helicopter Pilot Posthumous Medals and Documents Group

The group is comprised of the medals and framed award documents of Army Warrant Officer Edward Otto Weiman, who died in Vietnam as the result of an aircraft crash unrelated to combat on October 5, 1968, at the age of 28 years old. Warrant Officer Weiman flew with the 128th Assault Helicopter Company, 11th Aviation Battalion, 12th Aviation Group, 1st Aviation Brigade. The group is comprised of the following items:– The Distinguished Flying Cross, unnamed, slot brooch suspension, which is contained within its titled black leather case, together with the enamel lapel badge;– The Air Medal, named to 'Edward O. Weiman', crimp brooch suspension, with the suspension marked 'HLP-LI';– The Army Commendation Medal, named to 'Edward O. Weiman', crimp brooch suspension, with the suspension marked 'Simco-GI';– The Vietnam War Service Medal, crimp brooch suspension, with the suspension marked 'HLP-LI';– The National Defense Medal, crimp brooch suspension;– A theater made Republic of Vietnam Cross of Gallantry with Palm;– A theater made Republic of Vietnam Military Merit Medal.The group also includes the framed award documents for the Air Medal and the Army Commendation Medal as well as Warrant Officer Weiman's Diploma from the Army Aviation School. Also within the group is insignia which includes the Army Aviator wing, full size, clutch back, maker marked by Antaya, and marked as silver filled; a marksmanship badge with 'Rifle' bar; the plastic 'Weiman' uniform name tag; two Warrant Officer rank insignia; an officer 'U.S.' collar insignia; a distinctive unit insignia for the Army Aviation School; and individual ribbon bars for the Vietnam Service Medal, the National Defense Medal, and the Republic of Vietnam Campaign Medal.Overall the items in the group are in very good condition.
