GVR 1st type WW1 Distinguished Conduct Medal & 1914-15 trio To- 2249.SJT.W.T.CLARKE.1/2.S.MID.BDE.RFA.TF& 2249.CPL/SJT.W.T.CLARKE.R.F.A / R.A (Trio)William.T.Clarke from Worcester enlisted 5-8-1914 and first landed in France 31-3-1915 serving with the 1/2nd South Midland Brigade of the Royal Field Artillery. He was awarded the DCM in the London gazette 11-3-1918 with the following citationFor conspicuous gallantry & much excellent work as a telephone lineman. Often under circumstances of great personal danger.
