Description
German WWII Signed Photo of Knights Cross Winner Herbert Kuntz-Kuntz was awarded the Knights Cross for his achievements as a bomber/transport pilot over the course of 365 sorties. During his 108 missions in the Mediterranean, his successes included a munitions ship that was sunk near Bardia and another merchant vessel sunk in the Red Sea. Later, on the Eastern front, he would be particularly successful against shipping in the Caspian Sea and Lower Volga. In the last days of October 1942 he alone sank a 1500 GRT steamer, a 1000 GRT tug, two small freighters and a tug with two barges. This is an excellent color candid photograph that Herbert has signed on the back. This is in excellent condition. There is a nice note and the mailing envelope included. This photo measures 5 inches (12.7cm) wide, and 3 ½ inches (8.89cm) tall. This is a great photo and would be a fun research project.
