Description

Original period manufacture. Leather and canvas construction with a single prong, brass square frame buckle. Loops for 54 45-70 cartridges, with three small loops on the bottom edge to provide mounting points for the single hook bayonet scabbard. Watervliet Arsenal marked on the tip of the leather tab, A.R.SMITH inspected. The belt is pliable, none of the cartridge loops are broken. There are several inked markings on the reverse of the belt, the most readable being J.L. Hutton Co.L. A sound belt showing honest service use.
