US WWII FBI Director, J.Edgar Hoover Signed Letter, FBI Letterhead, December 1943, Blue Star Mothers

Original period manufacture. Letter of acknowledgement on FBI letterhead, to George H. Maines of Flint Michigan. The letter thanks the sender for a letter concerning the Blue Star Mothers organization, signed at the bottom J.E.Hoover, Director. George Maines 1887-1970, served as a Captain in WWI, and is credited as being the founder of the Blue Stars Mothers. A patriotic organization which provides relief and assistance to traveling service men and women. The organization remains active today. Captain Maines is buried in Arlington National Cemetery. Clear signature, the letter was once glued in an album.
