You are bidding on a SUPERB used example of a WW2 German Wehrmacht Hülsenfangsack (Spent Shell Casing Catcher Bag)! This was used in conjunction with the 5cm KwK39, as used on the Panzer III and variants!The Hülsenfangsack (Spent-Case Catcher) was used on German armored vehicles mounting the 5 cm KwK 39 gun, including the Panzer III and related chassis. Positioned beneath the gun breech, the bag collected hot cartridge casings as they were ejected, preventing clutter in the fighting compartment and allowing recovery of valuable brass for reloading or recycling. The assembly consisted of a steel mounting frame and a heavy canvas and leather bag secured by stitching and rivets.Made of a Canvas, Leather, and Steel, this is an EXCELLENT restored example! It retains its original wartime steel frame, which has been professionally cleaned, stabilized, and repainted to protect the underlying metal from corrosion. The canvas bag, leather trim, and stitching are brand-new reproductions made to the EXACT spec of the wartime pattern, matched from surviving originals. All attachment points, rivet holes, and seams follow the correct WWII German layout. I have shown its location in the last photos.
