You are bidding on a VERY NICE example of a 100% ORIGINAL WW2 United States Army M10 Ammunition Trailer Loading Instructions Data Plate!The Jeep trailer was a small, 1⁄4 short ton (0.22 long tons; 0.23 t) payload rated, cargo trailer, designed in World War II, tailored to be towed by 1/4-ton jeeps.The American Bantam Car Company of Butler, Pennsylvania, was the original designer of the U.S. Army ¼-ton jeep and later built the matching Bantam T-3 trailer under Quartermaster contract beginning in 1941. Designed to be towed by Willys MB and Ford GPW jeeps, the Bantam T-3 carried ammunition, fuel, and field gear in every major WWII theater. Each trailer left the factory fitted with an identification plate showing manufacturer, contract, serial, and key specifications – the plate offered here is one of those original plates.Made of aluminum by the American Bantam Car Company, Butler PA, this data plate is in EXCELLENT conditionf or its age! Used to carry supplies, ammunition, and field equipment in every major theater of the war, it is clearly stamped:TRAILER 2 WHEELS ¼ TONORDNANCE DEPARTMENTMAKE AND MODEL BANTAM T-3It also references the proper publications TM 10-1281. Some light surface oxidation however all information is completely legible with no cracks or structural damage.
