Description
Paper covers, published in Germany in 1947. Approximately 6 inches by 8 inches. 13 pages. The brochure contains information on 'Case No. 9', the 'Einsatzgruppen Trial', during which 24 surviving commanders and personnel of the Third Reich's mobile murder squads were tried for war crimes, crimes against humanity, and for membership in an criminal organizations, specifically the SS, the SD, or the Gestapo. The trial marked the first use of the term 'genocide' in a legal context, being used by both the prosecution and by the judges in the verdict. The presiding judge at the trial was Judge Michael Musmanno of Pittsburgh, who would later serve as a Justice of the Pennsylvania Supreme Court, and who was reportedly the inspiration for the character portrayed by Spencer Tracy in the film 'Justice at Nuremberg'. Justice Musmanno later appeared as a prosecution witness at the trial of Adolf Eichmann in Jerusalem. The brochure shows spots and age toning, but it is complete and intact. The pages are loose, because the brochure was never stapled. Overall very good condition.
