Description
Veteran Lot of 11 German WWII Medals and 1 Ring-All of these medals belonged to Friedrich Waterkamp who was a German Army (Heer) tank commander. These were purchased directly from his son who moved to the USA in 1996. His son Gerhard told me that his father saw a lot of action in France, and Russia. He was badly wounded and received the silver wound badge for a severe wound. Gerhard said he wished, as a kid, that his dad was whole. 'War is a terrible thing in what it can do to people'. His dad died in 1977.This lot contains a ring that is approx. a size 10. There is a panzer assault badge that has lost all of its original finish. There are two small stick pins, a silver wound badge and a panzer assault badge. The small silver wound badge stick pin is marked L/13, as is the large silver wound badge. L/13 is the code for the maker Paul Meybauer. There is a visor cap insignia. There is an iron cross 2ndclass that is in very good condition, with a long portion of correct ribbon. This comes with its original blue packet, that is marked for Klein and Quenzer. There is a three ribbon bar, with an Iron Cross, a long service award, and a Czech annexation award with a Prague castle bar. This is excellent though it shows some discoloration. There is a small iron cross ribbon in a bow, that is a button lapel device. There are two RAD cased 4 year faithful service awards. These are bronzed aluminum with the beautiful cornflower blue ribbon. These are in very good shape, except one of the cases is missing one top side. There is a Czech annexation award that is also cased. This is in excellent shape. What a great lot! It would be fun to read more about this soldier Friedrich Waterkamp. We are selling this personal grouping together.
