Description
You are bidding on a SUPERB example of aWW2 German Luftwaffe AK39 Armkompaß (Wrist Compass), Fl. 23235-1, as used by various German pilots and crew members! The AK39 Wrist Compass was designed for wear by pilots and crew for correctly calculating their position if forced to bail out or after a crash.Though it was designed to be worn on the wrist, it was commonly attached to various other pieces of equipment (zipper, straps, etc.).Made of black bakelite, this compass is in EXCELLENT used condition.98% of the original finish remains, however there are some slight marks due to the age.Brought back by a US veteran (probably from a captured pilot), it features 360 degree markings on the face, and it is still 100% functional! The bottom is clearly marked, 'AK39', and the Fl. label indicates Fl. 23235-1.Would make for a PERFECT addition to anycollection or display!
