Description
You are bidding on a VERY NICE example of a Cold-War era U.S. Army / Navy AN/USM-45 Frequency Calibrator! The AN/USM-45 (TS-979) is a U.S. military frequency calibrator used during the Cold War/Vietnam era to verify and set radio operating frequencies. Crystal-controlled references and harmonic markers provided stable check points across HF/VHF bands, making this a standard bench instrument for Signal Corps, USAF, and Navy maintenance shops through the 1960sβ1970s.Made of aluminum and steel, thisAN/USM-45 Frequency Calibrator (TS-979) is in EXCELLENT used condition! It features some light scratches and marks, due to the age, but is otherwise SUPERB! It comes complete with the matching CW-418/USM-45 cover, complete with schematic diagram and operating instructions inside the lid. The inspection/calibration label (German) is dated 02.03.73, confirming service use during the early 1970s.The unit shows honest wear throughout, with scuffing, small edge dings, and light scratching to the aluminum housing consistent with storage and handling. Original gray finish remains largely intact with no over-painting. The front panel lettering is clean and legible, all knobs, switches, and sockets appear complete, and both black metal carry handles are solid and secure. All data plates are fully readable and free from corrosion. Inside lid label is intact with only minor age toning. No visible tampering or internal modification. This piece has not been tested, so I am selling this 'as-is' for display or restoration. A very presentable and complete example of a Cold-War era frequency calibration unit that displays beautifully alongside military test equipment, aircraft avionics benches, or radio communication setups.A PERFECTaddition to any collection, display, or restoration project!
