Description
You are bidding on a VERY NICE example of an original WW2 U.S. Army Air Force / Navy Signal Corps radio headset! This example came from the same estate as the U.S. Navy Peacoat and Officer's Visor Cap currently listed, both belonging to the Aderhold family β father and son who served in the US Navy in both WW2 and during the Korean War.The C. Brandes Inc. 'Superior Matched Tone' headset was widely used during World War II by both the U.S. Army Air Forces and the U.S. Signal Corps. Known for its excellent clarity and reliability, it was issued for aircraft interphone systems, ground communications, and radio operations. Constructed of durable bakelite and steel with fabric-covered wiring, these headsets were among the most trusted designs of the war and remained in use well into the post-war years.Made of aluminum, leather, and steel, this radio headset is in VERY NICE condition for its age! No rips or tears to the leather headband, but does show wear from use. Marked as, 'Matched Tone', each ear piece is clearly marked 'C. Brandes Inc. β New York β Superior Matched Tone β Made in U.S.A.'.All wiring and connectors remain intact, though the main plug is missing, which is typical of wartime surplus sets removed from service. An excellent, well-preserved example that displays beautifully with WWII flight helmets, radios, or aircraft restorations. All adjustments work as they should. Would make a PERFECT addition to anycollection or display!
