JS6 First pattern SS officer M40 cap

First pattern SS officer M40 cap, presumably for wear with black service dress or Panzer uniform, constructed of an early grade of issue quality black wool, having silver metallic turn up piping installed at manufacture, one line of machine stitching holding the piping into place is sewn through the paper tag attaching it to the cap's rear the tag is stamped in black size 54, the silver Totenkopf button is marked SS RZM 1194/40, it is attached by sewing with heavy black cotton thread rather than being held by S-ring through the more commonly seen machine sewn 'grommet', internally the lining is of ribbed black rayon, an oilcloth RZM tag, Hersteller 311, is machine sewn to the lining, evidently this pattern was short-lived preceding the model with separately applied woven insignia, unused condition and the first of its type we have handled, USD $9500
