Description

WWII German Luftwaffe Channel Jacket-The WWII Luftwaffe 'Channel Jacket' (Kanaljacket) was a type of flight jacket worn by German aircrews during the war, especially during the Battle of Britain. It was designed for cold, high-altitude conditions and came in both a mid-weight cotton poplin and a heavier, winterized sheepskin version for extreme cold. This is the winterized example is blue (feldblau) cotton with a fantastic dark brown sheepskin full lining inside. The jacket shows light wear only and retain a majority of the blue color with minor fading and wear only. The main zipper is marked RAPID and has a leather pull tab. The zippers on the lower sleeves are marked ZIPP and D.R.P. Each also has a leather pull tab. Each works as intended. All buttons are marked PRYM and work as intended as well. There is a waist belt and there are leather straps under the fold down collar to provide mounting spots for equipment such as the headphones etc. There is some minor wear to the sheepskin lining. There are a few small patches/repairs to the lining as well. It is a size medium. Scarce example!
