A scarce original circa 1899 to 1926 period 'Boys' Life Brigade lapel badge'; small gilt brass 'Lifebuoy' mounted with red enamel cross bearing the letters 'BLB' vertically as well as horizontally; the reverse impressed with maker's details 'W.J.Dingley B'Ham' (William James Dingley Warstone Lane Birmingham.). Very good condition, complete with original buttonhole fitting, no damage to the enamel, gilt finish remains bright.Diameter approx 22mm.The 'Boys Life Brigade' was formed in 1899 by the 'National Sunday School Union' they amalgamated with the 'Boys Brigade' on the 1st October 1926.
