Cased, Boxed and Named WWII U.S. Marine Corps Okinawa KIA Posthumous Purple Heart Group

Available
$2500.00

Description

The Purple Heart has a full wrap brooch suspension, and it is hand engraved on four lines to 'PFC. Walter L. Brewer. USMCR.'. The medal is contained within its titled black leather Navy style 'coffin' case, together with a crimp brooch Pacific Campaign Medal and Private Brewer's identification bracelet. The case exterior shows surface spots, and the lid is just a bit elevated by virtue of having been kept for decades with the Pacific medal and the identification bracelet inside of the case. The case is contained within its protective cardboard box, which bears a typed label on the lid which bears Private Brewer's name. Private First Class Walter Lake Brewer had serial number 550564, and he served in the Pacific Theater as a member of Company H of the 3rd Battalion in the 6th Marine Division. He was killed in action on May 18, 1945, during combat on Okinawa. The Purple Heart has a few small spots and patina, but overall the group is in excellent condition.
