He enlisted in to the Yorkshire Regiment / Green Howards as a band boy age 14 in 1891. He served with the regiment during the Boer war of 1899-1902 & was awarded his LS&GC in 1910. He left the regiment after 21 years of service in 1912 & went on to enlist in to the 6th battalion of the Notts & Derby Regiment. He first landed in France 24-2-1915 & went on to be discharged with a silver war badge in 1919. He was awarded his TFEM in 1921 & was awarded the annuity MSM in 1953 & died in Sheffield in 1966 age 90.GVF or better & complete with copy service papers, medal roll details & other basic research details.
